Tentative Timeline

·         Currently and throughout summer: Read various sources on student engagement and math games: Compile  
      abstracts and annotated bibliographies and add to understandings.


·       Summer: Compile and create quality math games I can use to teach various math concepts.

     September:

·         Send home a letter and consent form informing parents/ guardians about my action research project.

·         Describe my research project to my class.

·         Survey students about their attitudes towards math and their previous experiences learning math.

·         Based on results from surveys, begin to form smaller focus groups/conduct interviews with them

·          Speak with Principal about research project

·         Send out survey to Keiller teachers about student engagement, what it looks/sounds like and how do they measure
      it.After, I will analyze their response and devise ways to measure and define engagement in my classroom.


·         October: Discuss action research project during open house with parents/ guardians.

·         Daily: Record student observations,  anecdotes, and running records of focus students/ gather data and organize

·         Daily:  Write in my teacher journal/ reflections/ fierce wondering/ observations

·         Weekly: Audiotape or videotape student interactions and conversations: transcribe and plan to go from there.

·         Weekly: Read and compile data collected and teacher journal

·         Weekly: Meet with HTH critical friend to discuss action research project

·         December/January : Compile research and data and begin writing paper
